Divisions are for businesses with more than one side, such as grounds maintenance and landscaping. Tag your clients, staff and jobs with a division, then pick it in the menu to see just that side of the business.
Divisions are labels for filtering. They don't stop anyone seeing or doing anything.
Setting up divisions
Owners and admins add and rename divisions under Settings, App customisation, Lists, then Divisions. A new name saves when you select Add, and a rename saves when you leave the box.
Only the owner can delete a division. Anything tagged with it stays, but loses the tag. You type the division's name to confirm.
What you can tag
Sites, quotes, invoices and contracts aren't tagged. They follow their client.
- Clients: any number of Divisions. A client also counts as being in the divisions of its jobs.
- Staff: any number of Divisions, on their team profile.
- One-off and recurring jobs: one Division each, or No division.
How jobs get a division
On the web, a new job has no division until you choose one. Visits of a recurring job take the recurring job's division, and changing it updates future visits unless you set one by hand.
Jobs added in the phone app use the division chosen there. With Default (from client), they take the client's division when the client has just one.
The division picker
Once you have a division, a picker appears under your business name in the menu. Choose All divisions or one division. Fieldfare remembers your choice on that browser.
The star beside a division makes it your default, so you start there each time.
What changes when you pick a division
Picking a division shows only what's tagged with it. Anything untagged is hidden until you go back to All divisions.
- Schedule and Jobs: only jobs in the division.
- Clients: only clients in the division, with a Divisions column.
- Team, holidays and the holiday planner: only staff in the division.
- Weekly plan: starts on the menu's division and has its own picker.
- Dashboard and Reporting: jobs in the division, and its clients' invoices, quotes and contracts.
- Timesheets are not filtered.
Assigning staff
When a job has a division, staff from other divisions move behind Show staff outside this division in the staff list. You can still assign them.
On the phone
The phone app has its own division filter on the schedule, which isn't linked to the web picker. Owners and admins see every division. Staff see only the divisions they're in.

Questions
Why have some jobs disappeared?
A division is probably picked in the menu, and those jobs aren't tagged with it. Choose All divisions to see everything, then tag the jobs.
Can I stop staff seeing another division's work?
No. Divisions only filter what you see. Use role permissions to control what each role can see.
Can someone be in two divisions?
Yes. Staff and clients can be in as many as you like. A job is in one.
Can I export one division?
The jobs export has its own Divisions filter, and the Visits and Recurring jobs files include a division column.
